Another Kiva Milestone

Last week, I contributed our 200th loan to Kiva. I am very keen on helping people in under-developed countries to improve their life and perceive that Kiva is a very worthwhile organisation to support. My small contribution of $25 was combined with that of sixteen others in places that range from Norway to China. Together, we raised a total loan of $600. I’ll track progress over the period of the loan and then when it is paid back, I will lend the money someone else.

Here are the details of Chiv Sokheng, to whom we made this loan.

Chiv Sokheng

Sokheng is 24 years old and a resident of the Pursat Province in Cambodia. She has two children, both of whom are under her care. She is married to Pech, 26, who is a motor-taxi driver. Sokheng is a pig raiser which enables her to earn good profits. She always sells to the slaughter every four months when they are big enough to be sold. Sokheng is a responsible mother and neighbor, and she wants to increase her income through her business. Sokheng is applying for a loan to buy more piglets for her pigpen.

You can find Part One of these images here: https://www.wilsons.id.au/activities-around-the-turn-of-the-20th-century-part-one/ Boating on the Yarra River at Fairfield was […]

Activities Around The Turn of the 20th Century – Part One

It’s another hot day (44C) with strong winds and many bush fires burning throughout the state.  It seems a bit surreal checking my emergency app and listening to the radio messages telling people to evacuate from many places. I’m keeping cool again with the air-con on and following up my post of Old Mebourne with […]

Old Melbourne – Using AI

On a day when it is 41C (107F) the best thing to do is to sit in an air conditioned room, watch the cricket and find a low energy activity. I’ve found that the State Library of Victoria has an extensive collection of historic photos and my photo editing software has an AI capability of […]
