We flew up to Brisbane yesterday afternoon and stayed at the Crest Hotel In Anne Street. This morning, we caught the shuttle up here from the Brisbane Transport Centre, arriving at about 1.00 pm.

This place is near the little town of Canungra which brings back a few memories as it is the location of the Australian Army Jungle Warefare Training Centre where I spent a few weeks of training before going to Vietnam in 1969.

Next week we are staying over in Brisbane for five or six days to attend the reunion of my unit in Vietnam – 85 Transport Platoon. This year is the 40th anniversary of the unit being formed in 1997 to go to Vietnam.

It has been a nice sunny day this morning with temperatures around 28 degrees, however this afternoon, the wind changed to the SW and got much cooler and brought in a little rain. We expect the same weather over the next couple of days..

Here is the view from our balcony towards the afternoon sun in the west

It also seemed to be the home of many large buildings that […]

Another Day Driving South to Maryborough

Well, it rained steadily all day today. It was cool and we had our jumpers back on. The weather had difficulty making it to 15C. I think that the temperature in Melbourne was actually one degree warmer today. We took a few minutes before leaving Gladstone to see the main street and some of the […]
