We Are Heading Off On Our Next Trip

We are packed and ready to leave on another trip to explore some more of Australia, starting on Tuesday, July 8.

This time we are heading back to Far North Queensland to see some new (and some old) territory. We will travel north across the Muray River to Canberra and then through some rural areas of New South Wales and Queensland. Once we reach Rockhampton, we will follow the coast along beautiful tropic beaches until we reach Cairns. We will spend a couple of weeks exploring more of Cairns, Port Douglas and Atherton before returning home. We expect to drive nearly 9,000 kilometres in total (around 5,500 miles for those still using medieval measurements) on this trip.

Our plan is to drive around 300 to 350 kilometres per day with a mix of single and double overnight stays. That should give us plenty of of time for sight seeing and exploring. We will take around two weeks to reach Cairns and then have two weeks in Cairns, Port Douglas and Atherton combined before taking another two weeks to reach home.

Follow us on this trip and we are sure that we’ll take you to intersting places through our blog.

These […]

As a result, our outdoor activities have been somewhat curtailed but we still found some interesting places. Just before we crossed the bridge to go to the NSW town of Barooga we came across  Thompsons Beach. It […]

Happily, I can report that the weather today was not as bad as forecast. There was some rain early in the morning but most of the day was just cloudy with only a light shower now and then. We had expected rain to fall for most of the day. Using Google to find local attractions, […]
